Beginning of the Spanish Diary: The Letter of Acceptance

I never received my letter of acceptance from Hogwarts... but I suppose this is a good compromise.

I have been talking about this moment for a few years, and now it's finally going to come true! I have been officially accepted to study abroad at the Universidad de Granada in Spain, beginning January 2018 and going until May 2018!

I applied back in August... a few days before the OU application was due— my mom warned me so many times over the summer to not wait until the last minute. Over the summer we spent a good amount of time looking at the options for Spain; there were so many! I had a few criteria in mind:

  1. Be in Spain

  2. Live with a host family

  3. Be in Spain

  4. Be in a learning intensive environment that will push my Spanish skills to its limits

  5. Be in Spain

  6. Try a city different from the typical destinations (Barcelona, Seville, Madrid)

  7. Be in Spain

  8. Be in Spain

  9. Be in Spain

Granada, Spain is located in Spain's Andalusia region (southern Spain). It has heavy Morrish cultural influence, especially in its Medieval architecture.

At the moment I am going through Hell in collecting documents, gathering materials for my VISA, signing up for courses, and thinking about what to pack. CEA, the Affiliate Provider has site specialists keeping in touch with me by phone to guide me throughout the steps of getting everything done. At the same time, OU has important deadlines for its Education Abroad department— everything is stressful!

Next week I will be meeting with my Spanish advisor to help fill out my Course Preference form due at the end of the week. There are a ton of interesting classes, and they will all be taught in Spanish instruction! I shall post my final course schedule when it's released a few months later!

The next step is to turn in all my materials/documents to have OU attain my Spanish VISA from the Spanish Consulate in Houston— this is the most stressful, overwhelming step!

Once December rolls around I can finally take a breather. I will keep you guys updated!

Rachel
