In our orientation meeting for my ambassadorship, each ambassador took turns talking about why the are part of this team. For me, I realized how important a role I play in promoting global sensitivity and understanding. Our campus has been under a lot of tension regarding the Black Face video incident, and many students feel hurt, attacked, and unsafe by the (lack of) measures taken to help.

This ambassadorship is about not only encouraging students to study abroad, but to develop and enrich themselves more intellectually and culturally. Living in a different country has many health benefits that can shape us to be better rounded individuals. We need to fight the closemindedness and ignorance that intoxicate many people to this day and promote global understanding.
