It is really ironic that I am a Spanish major, enjoy speaking the language, go out Latin dancing, but I still have NEVER joined the Spanish Club at OU— until my senior year. 

 

I went during the first meeting of the semester, and everything was so chill! It started out in conversational groups based on levels, and of course I sat at the advanced table… but my table kept speaking English, while the intermediate and beginner groups were taking it seriously and trying to speak! I got to meet some friendly people, and for the longest time I forgot what it was like to informally speak Spanish with other learners outside of a classroom. It felt nice. 

 

The president of the club introduced La lotería, which is basically Bingo but with cards with really pretty drawings. Prizes were given out, and I felt like I had been missing out for so long! I hope to attend many more meetings this semester and make new friends before graduation.
